It has been a while (3 years, two months, and 15 days give or take) since I last posted. (Yes, it has been too long!)
What happened? Quick summary: my husband and I became empty nesters, moved to Missouri, bought an abandoned 1880 home, did some travelling, welcomed new family members (grandchildren and a daughter-in-law), and welcomed a fur baby into our home.
That has all been really fun. However, it has also been a lot of work – particularly restoring and reviving our historic home and yard. At some point, I will share some photos of our renovations.
For this post, though, I want to introduce a new “leaf” and our new fur baby.

Scout is an Aussiedoodle who joined our family in January 2024. This little guy is as cute and fun as he looks. He certainly has brought us a new “perspective.”
Having a young, energetic doodle means we get to walk, walk, and walk some more. Every walk with Scout is an adventure. I am fascinated by his perspective. Scout finds everything interesting. Every walk.
Scout has inspired me to slow down, take time to really see my surroundings, and occasionally even smell some roses. We have seen beautiful things and odd things, colorful things and smelly things. Scout has reminded me that “there will always be something beautiful to be appreciated if we look for it.”
On a recent Saturday, it was gray and misting rain. My mood matched the grayness of the day. However, Scout needed a walk – so I agreed to walk with Scout and my husband along the Katie Trail near our home. Not long into our walk, I noticed a variety of wildflowers along the trail. Their vibrant colors – contrasted with the gloom and enchanced by the glistening raindrops – soon had me searching for the next flower, next color. I started taking photos. My mood changed.
My husband suggested I create a post for my blog…
And there you have it: a new “Perspective”, a new post, a revived blog. Thanks, Scout. Thanks, hubby. Hope you enjoy the photos from our walk.
